Are You in Touch

Are You in Touch with Your Target Market?

An email list is an excellent way to stay in touch with potential customers or clients. If you’re not building a list, then you’re letting money slip down the drain. Email marketing should be a part of your overall marketing plan.

Some business owners avoid email marketing because they relate it to spam. Or perhaps they just don’t know how to do it. In either case, you can miss a lot of business by not staying in touch with potential customers or clients. In fact, you can even use email marketing to stay in touch with past clients or customers.

Big name retailers like Woolworths and Kmart regularly announce sales to people on their list. Game retailer Game Stop announces on-line only deals to its list. Online retailer Amazon also sends new product announcements to past customers. You can use this same method to increase your sales.

Chances are your competitors are using email marketing to connect with people. Even if they aren’t, you’ll be a step ahead of them if you do.

The first step to email marketing is having a way to collect emails. If you don’t know how to do this, that’s fine. An internet marketing consultant can get you up and running.

One way some business owners build an email list is by purchasing a pre-compiled list. This may work for some businesses, but it’s not a good idea. The people on the list may or may not be interested in what you have to offer. Not only is that a waste of money, but sending unsolicited email puts you in spam territory.

A better way to create an email list is to collect email address directly from your website. Putting a sign-up form on your homepage is a good idea. In return for their contact information, you can promise to send periodic updates about your products or services. You can also send a newsletter or announce sales and special deals.

Before you know it, you will have a database full of people interested in what you have to offer. As long as the information is valuable, you can be sure your emails will be read from top to bottom.
